Can longevity on the job have a dark side? Some studies suggest that even intelligent and self-aware administrators suffer from a predictable bell curve of effectiveness, which can kick in as early as the fifth to seventh year on the job, and can become apparent in most after 15 years. Obviously, anyone can commit these workplace sins, including resistance to change, poor communication and control issues.

However, if you have been in your position for seven years or more, even in a library where change is the norm, you need to be on constant alert for these typical mistakes. This program can be a heads-up for directors, managers, and library staff members on the promotion track. Participants will learn to:

  • Identify typical management and leadership mistakes
  • Address their own problematic behaviors with coaching and education
  • Diagnose job dissatisfaction with the "Eight Reasons to Quit Your Job"
